Founders’ Message
The MAC Investment Club (MACIC) has been in the making for years at McMaster University. In 2008, undergraduate students Colin Watson, Jeff Jackson and Arunan Sridharan formulated the basic primer on which both of us founded the investment club 6 months later.
The MACIC promotes financial literacy through proactive engagement in the stock markets, knowledge sharing and development in social environments, and learning risk management and intelligent research through ideation and analysis. While the MACIC prides itself in its fast growth and adaptability the core principles of the MACIC still serve as the driving factors to why hundreds of students, alumni and community members continue to support the investment club.
All of you have helped to make the MACIC has been a phenomenal success. Not only are we the fastest growing group at McMaster University but the fastest growing student-run and funded investment club in Canada. We are really proud to have played a founding role in its inaugural year. One of our goals when starting the club was to build and promote a strong investor alumni, and this is quickly becoming a success. MACIC alumni are positioned in your major financial, accounting and service institutions. From Morgan Stanley, Royal Bank, Thomson Reuters, Bank of Montreal, Scotiabank, TD Securities, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, PricewaterhouseCoopers, McKinsey & Company and we forsee this list continuing to expand exponentially as MACIC grows.
We both see limitless potential for this investment club to want to thank everyone again for their support and look forward to being involved as investors and through alumni events in the future.
Best wishes,
Arunan Sridharan (Co-Founder, CEO ’08/09) and Jason Liu (Co-Founder, CFO ’08/09)
