MAC Investment Club http://macic.ca The MAC Investment Club (MACIC) is a student-operated and funded investment club with close to $50,000 in assets under management. Established within the heart of McMaster University's Michael G. DeGroote School of Business, the club is at the core of the school’s student community. Despite its deep connection with the business school- the club has been affiliated with the DeGroote Commerce Society since spring 2010- it remains independent and open to all students, faculty, staff, and members of the greater McMaster University. The diversity of the MACIC is one of its strengths, as its members’ varied backgrounds, education, and worldview enrich the quality of experience it offers those who choose to participate. Founded in 2008 by a small group of passionate and driven students, the MAC Investment Club has grown quickly and is now recognized as one of the largest university investment clubs in Canada, by many measures. The club’s rapid growth has been underscored by its professional operations, and exceptional results- the club has continually outperformed the Canadian financial markets since it was established. For those of you who have invested with the club this year this is an important update as to when you can collect your funds.

Reimbursement of funds will begin ON MONDAY, MARCH 26TH, 2012. This is for both email transfers and cheque issuance.

For those of you able to retrieve your funds in person the following are times we will be reimbursing.

Monday, March 26th from 12:30pm to 2:30pm in the Allen H. Gould Trading Floor.

Tuesday, March 27th from 6:30pm to 7:30pm in the Allen H. Gould Trading Floor.

Wednesday, March 28th from 11:30am to 1:30pm and 4:30pm to 9:30pm in the Allen H. Gould Trading Floor.

Monday, April 2nd from 12:30pm to 2:30pm in the Allen H. Gould Trading Floor.

Tuesday, April 3rd from 6:30pm to 7:30pm in the Allen H. Gould Trading Floor.

Wednesday, April 4th from 11:30am to 1:30pm and 4:30pm to 9:30pm in the Allen H. Gould Trading Floor.

If you are retrieving your funds at these times you are required to bring:
Invested Membership Card
Investment Receipt
Two pieces of photo ID

You are not permitted to pick up funds for friends.

If you are unable to attend in person please email info@macic.ca to make alternate arrangements for receiving your funds.

    With its inaugural event taking place this past January 14th, 2012 at the Ron Joyce Centre in Burlington, the McMaster Capital Markets Conference & Competition (MAC CMC) was a milestone event for the Mac Investment Club and the DeGroote Finance Association. Over 100 student and industry delegates participated in the day which included speaker presentations, workshops, discussion panels, and networking sessions. Firms present included TD, BMO, RBC, CIBC, Scotia Capital, Morgan Stanley, and many more. Going into its second year, the MAC CMC is looking to expand its initiatives by including a four-week long competition that will see two teams pitted against each other as they present their case question findings to a panel of industry judges. This year, the conference will act as the closing event for the competition.

    Being a member of the executive committee will be a great educational experience while providing practical experience by exposing you to the finance industry. The MAC CMC executive team is a sub-committee of the Mac Investment Club and the DeGroote Finance Association, and as such, works in conjunction with the two clubs. Committee meetings will take place once a week during the regular school term, with significant e-mail and phone communication between members and, if possible, the occasional meeting throughout the summer. Students in any faculty and year are welcome to apply.

    To apply for a MAC CMC executive committee position, please send your cover letter and resume to info@maccmc.com by 11:59PM on Sunday March 25th.In the cover letter please indicate your desire to be on the committee, relevant skills and experience, and ideas for the conference and/or competition. Interviews will take place during the week of March 25th.
